Shed WiFi that actually reaches the shed

If the house router will not stretch to the outbuilding out the back, you are in the right place. Shed WiFi is the plain-English way to work out how to get WiFi to a shed, then get it done.

A cheap WiFi extender for a shed close to the house, a proper wireless bridge across the yard, or fixing the incoming line first. Answer a few quick questions and we will point you at the right fix or sort the whole thing for you.

The 30 second shed WiFi chooser

Every outbuilding is a bit different. This finds the simplest option for yours and points you to the people who do it.

Do you already have solid internet at the house?

We start here because the fix is completely different if the whole property struggles.

Three ways WiFi reaches a shed

Close by: extend it

Under about 15 metres with a reasonable path, an outdoor access point carries your existing WiFi straight to the shed.

Across the yard: bridge it

30 metres or more, or a metal shed in the way, calls for a point to point wireless bridge between the buildings.

No good internet: fix the source

If the whole property struggles, we sort the incoming connection first, then share it out to every building.

Run by installers, not a marketplace

Shed WiFi is part of Alien IT, an Australian team that installs outdoor WiFi and wireless bridges for a living. We only recommend what we would fit ourselves, and if a job is better handled by one of our sister services, we send you straight there.

Shed WiFi questions, answered

What is the best way to get shed WiFi?

It depends on distance. Within about 15 metres of the house, an outdoor access point or a good extender carries your existing WiFi to the shed. Across the yard, a point to point wireless bridge is the reliable answer. If the whole property has poor internet, you fix the incoming connection first. The chooser on this page points you to the right one in about 30 seconds.

Will a normal WiFi extender for a shed work?

Sometimes, if the shed is close and there is a clear path. Cheap plug-in extenders struggle once you add distance, walls, or a metal shed. For anything past a wall or two we use outdoor-rated gear aimed at the building, which is far more stable than a repeater sitting inside the house.

Do I need a second internet plan for the shed?

No. Getting WiFi to a shed means extending the one connection you already pay for, not adding another bill. We carry your existing internet out to the building.

Can you just do it for me?

Yes. Shed WiFi is run by Alien IT, so once you know the right approach we can supply and install it for you, aim it, and hand you working WiFi. Register your interest or call 02 9707 0999.
